Crow - Hooded

Hooded Crow (Corvus corone)

There are three types of crow, the carrion crow, the hybrid and the hooded crow. The hooded crow is most common in the north of Scotland, those in England are more likely to be a hybrid. These were photographed on Sanday Orkney and Hoy. Although common they fly as soon as you approach them, we used a car as a hide to obtain these photographs.

The nest of sticks is built in a tree and 3 - 6 eggs hatch after 18 days.
